Plywood sheet calculator
A quick estimate so you know whether you are ordering 3 sheets or 30. For a precise cut plan a specialist can do better — message the drawings on WhatsApp.
Based on 96 sq ft ÷ 32 sq ft per sheet × 1.1 wastage = 3.30 sheets, rounded up.
How the estimate works
A standard plywood sheet is 8 ft × 4 ft = 32 sq ft. The calculator divides your total surface area by 32, then adds a wastage allowance to account for offcuts and mis-cuts.
Wastage guidance:
- 10% for straight-line cuts (most bedroom furniture, wardrobes, simple carcase work).
- 15% for angled or complex cuts (kitchen carcases with cutouts, curved shutters).
- 20% for very small parts where lots of drops go to scrap.
A good carpenter can save a sheet with a smart cut layout — often a specialist reading your drawings comes back with a lower count than the formula suggests. The point of estimating here is to give you a ballpark before the conversation.
Send the drawings for a real cut plan
Photos of your carpenter's drawings are enough. A specialist will send back a cut plan and confirm the exact sheet count — often lower than the formula because a good layout reduces wastage.
